As I was motoring with her to the grocers this morning, I was tending to notice what others had (bigger houses with nice yards, garages and such) and thinking how no matter how I tried, my wishes and dreams never came to fruition and how I was feeling pretty much a failure at everything in my life and had nothing to show for it. Upset with myself, I started to then tell myself "I know you have been in a slump for some 20 years now, but you do have two great sons and a roof over your head, so all is not that bad. And besides, look what you DID create; you are driving it and love it, and it loves you back just as much. So, do not sell yourself short as you created something wondrous that no one else in the world has." SO I feel a whole lot better about myself now. =]) I know I am special, even if no one else does. ;)
I decided it was time to have some quiet time with my corgi Ein, as he has not been camping in many years and I have not had a chance to go camping "quietly" in a long time too. To me, camping is a time to give my ears a rest and let the sounds of nature wash over over me. Anyway, I digress. Here are some pics from our two days stay. She ran over the Ortega Highway and back just great with the only hitch being, as it was raining, windshield wipers required but the darn driver-side one kept coming off... I finally got it fixed at the bottom of the hill ( I hope). ;)
A few things new, others touched up. I finished re-staining the living-quarters portion of her today. I love it and wish I had done it long ago. I also pulled back the rubber matting in there to clean under it and found a surprise; dead spiders, lots of em.... the in the little squares on the underside of the rubber mat. It seems the fogging worked, for the most part... when I was staining, one went running by me.... I had my trusty can of spider and scorpion killer right by me, so it is no more. I sprayed everything with some long lasting bug kill just to be safe and I have more fumigators just to be safe. AnyWho.... I decided to get another carpet to cover the entire exposed flooring but the one I had are out of style, no longer in stick, whatever, so she got two new carpets too. And, Her clutch lock came into. I am still working on finding the right placement of it, but it works just fine either way. even if it slips, you still cannot put the clutch pedal in enough to shift, so ya me. So, Next week, Doheny bound, Ein and me, beachside! WOHOO! A few pics of her getting her front end work done, a pic of Ein and pics of re-freshened interior.
Thanks to my pal Jeremy, I now have new tie-rods and drag link installed. I really appreciate his help, and his wife's tolerance in letting me use their driveway and her husband to help me with the repairs. They are great people1.
On a different note, so changes in appearance as well. I made some modifications and fabricated an adapter to use a pre-67 bug rear luggage rack and mounted it to the front. I then mounted an old Craftsman tool chest which I had clear coated, to the rack. Looks pretty cool to me. and of course, I am including a few pics of her inside. I plan to take everything out and stain the wood panels and such to a darker stain. She will be simply marv-va-lous!
The Blue Hag
Just a crazy older gal, making ready for when my nest is empty and I can go see the world, camping and rest-stopping on the way to be able to live simply and afford ably..
