As most now, I pulled out the passenger seat, tore it down and made new seat covers, but not just for the passenger seat, but for the drivers seat as well. So, today I pulled out the drivers seat, looked at it as I was trying to break it down. W T F ???? So, the P.O. put in non-1970 seats. The passenger side appears to be a 73-74 or a 75, as it has head rest tubes, and the bottom is the same as 68-72 but the drivers side is a 75, which is COMPLETELY different in the way it installs and is made. so, a big waste of money there thank you very much1 scratch that idea and get creative. I will instead, after I remove and replace some broken springs in the seat base, repaint it all to match/compliment her interior and make some custom made tie-on patio style seat covers for now, until I hit the lotto (How I know= http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=7531009&sid=72b3fb4c77e4506313f752023d180189
Someday, when I get a sander ( cos my broken old body cant sand that big ol' bus by hand anymore) , before I spray the matte clear coat, I am going to create some chalkboard spots on her ( the chalkboard area will be masked as to not be clear coated until a later date. I am then going to make more and more chalk board areas for folks to write on and clear over them as filled in.
I decided to get her something new. She has been begging for these for years now. She, and I, are happy campers.
