Well, seems she says "No, I am not going anywhere! I am staying with you hooman! Now, the 70's, they are notorious for their fuse boxes cracking in half due to Volkswagen making deciding to try making them out of Bakelite. They did this for the first 6 months, then realized their mistake and switched to the white plastic for the remainder models of 1970. Seem she is an early 70 though so yep.... got the Bakelite one and we had dodged that bullet alllllll these years, but no more. When we had gone camping at Lake Perris, when I got home I noticed her low beam on the passenger side was out. Given the bulbs are like new and I rarely drive where/when I need headlights, I was bummed. I order 4 spare bulbs, and forgot about it. So, I was moving stuff around and found the spare bulbs, figured since not brutally hot out, I would change the bulb. Took existing bulb out but it was good as new except for a little dust. Perplexed, I put it back in and went to check the fuses. As I touched one, four others fell off. W T F ???? then I see it, the crack of doom. (Mind you, battery is disconnected now) so, I squeeze it back together, pull the tabs back where they go and tape it up tight, then zip-tie it tight. Battery back on, turn on headlights and ShaZam! they work. But, there is an odor I do not like, not risking an electrical fire so battery back off and we wait for our friend Jeremy to find us a suitable replacement (the white ones for her year are nearly impossible to find and not going with another Bakelite one). I am considering just going aftermarket and putting in Blue Sea fuse boxes instead though, will look like this once all the parts arrive.
